This article conducts a comparative analysis of the principles of nurturing and human perfection from the perspectives of Islam and modernity, with a specific focus on teachings of Imam Reza. The central question of the study is: How can the fundamental contrast between the educational principles of Islam and modernity in the context of human development and perfection be explained? so, the epistemological foundations and educational objectives of both discourses are first examined. The research methodology employed is an analytical-comparative approach, utilizing religious sources such as the Qur'an and the sayings of Imam Reza (AS), as well as works related to modernity, to compare the educational principles and perspectives of Islam and the West. The findings of the study indicate that Islamic education, grounded in rationality, ethics, and faith, aims to cultivate the "perfect human" and achieve spiritual perfection. In contrast, modernity, centered on humanism and secular rationalism, emphasizes individual autonomy and material progress. results also reveal that the teachings of Imam Reza can play a fundamental role in providing strategies for addressing the challenges posed by modernity. Ultimately, the article underscores the necessity of developing indigenous and Islamic educational models to counter the effects of modernity in Muslim societies.
